• China is divided into provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions, and special administrative regions, which are used as the first-level administrative division.
• Some major cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Chongqing, are municipalities and serve as both the city and the first-level administrative division.
• Postal codes consist of 6 digits (e.g. 200001).
• Landline numbers use an area code. In domestic format, the area code begins with 0 (e.g. 021 6038 4396). In international format, remove the leading 0 after the country code (e.g. +86 21 6038 4396).
• Mobile numbers contain 11 digits and usually begin with 1 (e.g. 13800138000). In international format, they are written as +86 13800138000.
• Chinese addresses are commonly written from the largest geographic division to the smallest in Chinese, but when written in English they are typically ordered from the smallest to the largest, following international conventions.
